A0 Activity: Your Badge Story
Welcome
We have all followed unique pathways to the jobs (or courses, apprenticeships, situations) we are in. Having a clear sense of this pathway can help us to identify key elements that led us to our current situation or skills that could open up other career possibilities. The choices we have made in terms of learning experiences will impact our journey, including qualifications, hobbies, interests, volunteering, jobs, travel etc.
Open Badges is a standard that enables us to capture and share our achievements across the web. In this activity we are going to ask you to chart your life story in terms of badgeable moments. A couple of examples of people who have charted badgeable moments, with some narrative about their story, are provided in the stories of Brian B and Matt B. Their stories are presented in the form of badges they might have gained for the things they have done in their lives.
Story 1 of Brian B
Story 2 of Matt B
You can you can complete the ‘Your badge story’ template in terms of the badges you might gain for your skills or just by noting your hobbies, qualifications etc.
Tasks
- On a ‘Your badge story’ template, chart your skills journey by noting badgeable moments you have had in your life. Include qualifications, hobbies, interests, volunteering, jobs, travel and any other interesting skills details. Even if you don’t see something as a skill but it is something you have dedicated time to, note it on the template as it can provide an insight into what motivates you or any area in which you have a skill but don’t realise it
- Write your name on the template
- Share this with your peers here or on twitter with the #OBNMOOC hashtag and ask them to tell you any other skills they think you have.
- Add these additional skills to your template.
- Access the forum for this activity here.
- When you feel you have finished this activity, push the Complete button below.
Seems promising!
Hi Everybody,
A week has passed since we started this MOOC. Most of you have started to work with he actity A0, which is good. Now I would like to invite you to move forward and work with the other activities:
– If you participated the webinar last Monday, then move to Activity A2
– If you missed the webinar, please move to Activity A1 by listening to the webinar recording, and then to A2.
Once you have finished an activity, please push the green “Complete”, button, so that you can progress digitally as well on the progress bar.
We also invite you to look at your peers’ forum posts and comment on them, it is a good way to get closer to the topic.
We have this whole week to finish all the activities of this first module from A0 to A4, don’t miss the possibility!
Have a nice week,
Dénes
I am progressing quickly.

Can u help me?
Moreover, in Activity A= I don’t understand how to create the badges to put in the figure of the man. How does it work? Where am I suppose to write my badges or notes? I’ve just got a scheme of a stylized man.
thanks
tania
Dear Tania,
It is too early to enter the AC room. You need to write your name, and choose GUEST. No registration is needed there. Meet you at 3 PM CET!
Dear Tania,
You have to download the PersonaA4.docx template from A0 Activity Related media. Then you have to upload somwhere in the cloud, and share with us. This can be done via the A0 Forum:
http://www.openbadgenetwork.com/forums/topic/a0-activity-your-badge-story/
This comment box is the Session’s overall comment box, and you can not link files here.
I hope I could help.

Dear Tania, you can proceed with the Wellcome Activity: A0 🙂

Dear Tania
Just enrolled the mooc, hope it’s not too late to participate ?
In our second webinar of the MOOC we are joined by Olivia Whitlam, Corporate Citizenship Manager from Siemens, who will discuss how they have been using badges. They will cover why they chose to use badges, who their badges are aimed at, how they approached developing badges of value and how they consider and approach quality. There will be time for questions and answers.
This webinar provides a useful opportunity to hear directly from a household name employer on why they are using badges and to ask them questions about their experience.
In our third webinar of the MOOC: Designing badges of value.
In this webinar, Digitalme will introduce the Badge Design Canvas and
provide guidance on how to complete the canvas in preparation for this
week’s tasks. There will also be time for questions and answers.
The webinar will be organised in the framework of the next C Module, Activity C1.
